What you need to bring

No prior experience required — but a few things need to be in place so we can hit the ground running.

Full step-by-step setup guide →

A cloud account (optional)

Everything runs on your laptop — no purchase ever required. Only want your project on the public internet? Grab a free-tier AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud account.

An AI assistant

At least one of Claude, ChatGPT / Codex, Gemini, or GitHub Copilot — ideally two. Free tiers are fine to start.

A laptop

Windows, Mac, or Linux — with admin rights to install software, and a charger. The Prepare page covers the rest.

A GPU (optional)

Only if you want to run AI models locally. For web apps, APIs, and cloud AI, a standard laptop is plenty.

What does it cost to keep it live?

Once your project is deployed, you own it. Here's what a real production stack typically runs per month across the big clouds. Free tiers cover most of it in year one.

Component AWS Azure Google Cloud
Frontend (static hosting) S3 + CloudFront · ~$1–3 Static Web Apps · free–$9 Firebase Hosting · free–$1
Backend (serverless) Lambda · free–$5 Functions · free–$5 Cloud Run · free–$5
Database (managed) RDS t4g.micro · ~$15 Azure SQL Basic · ~$5 Cloud SQL micro · ~$9
Domain + DNS Route 53 · ~$2 App Service · ~$2 Cloud DNS · ~$2
Est. monthly total ~$20–25 ~$13–21 ~$13–17

Low-traffic hobby / small-business estimates. Free-tier credits (AWS 12-month, Azure $200, GCP $300) can drop year-one costs to near zero.

Frequently asked

Do I need any coding experience?

No. Beginners are welcome. Greg walks you through everything from installing tools to deploying — you just bring an idea.

How long is a session?

Saturdays, 10am to 3pm — about five hours of building, with lunch included (cooked by our special guest, Chef Sky).

How many people are in a group?

Four or five, max. Kept small on purpose so everyone gets real hands-on time with Greg.

What does the $250 include?

A dialed-in, working development environment set up with you, hands-on help all day, a proper lunch cooked by our special guest Chef Sky, and the thing every session is built around: some real part of your idea running live on the internet before you leave.

Will my project be totally finished in one day?

Depends on the scope. Something like a landing page, a booking site, or a simple app can genuinely be live by the end of the day. Bigger builds — a game is the classic example — are about getting the fundamentals right: the core pieces working and the workflow set up so you can keep going. You'll always leave with real, working progress and a clear path forward — never a blank page.

Is there an age requirement?

Sessions are for adults — 18 and up.

What if I need to cancel?

Plans change — refunds are available up to 7 days before your session. Inside that window, reach out and we'll do our best to move you to another Saturday.

What do I need to bring?

A laptop, plus a few accounts and tools set up beforehand (a cloud account, an AI assistant, GitHub, and a handful of dev tools). The Prepare page walks through every step.
